Outstanding Light Switch Wiring 3 Black Wires
I am replacing my single pole light switch and noticed when i removed the old switch that there are three black wires coming from the box.
Light switch wiring 3 black wires. Of the three black wires only one of them is hot. Bare copper green wire this is your ground wire. At the outlet the travelers are spliced to run to sw2 using the red and white wires in that cable.
In this diagram power enters the fixture box. All the white wires are capped together and the same is for the ground wires. The black wire from the other 3 way gets connected to the line black wire.
Push the switch into the box and secure it with screws at the top and bottom. The black hot wire connects to the far right switch s common terminal. Turn on the power and test the switch.
15 minutes to change. In a 3 way configuration the load wire should be connected to the l1 terminal of the brilliant control. The red and black wires running from sw1 to the outlet are used as travelers.

White wire this is the neutral wire. Hook the white wire to the top terminal on the switch. The brilliant control can automatically detect which wire is line and which is load so they are interchangeable when installing in a single pole configuration.
